- APTERA_NOTE
A white, skull-like face. Blue eyes, blue hair. The black dress suits her well. Small — she'd scarcely reach my creator's waist. Though to me, of course, she is plenty to look up at.
The skull she wears is not her own. Borrowed, it seems, from the remains of some parasite or other. (APT-330. It looks just like that one's face.)
This one paints. Only then does she lift the skull off — it gets in the way of her seeing, no doubt. She shuts herself in a room, looks at nothing, and paints from her head alone. The dresses she dirties, she washes in secret, alone, so no one will find out. In everything she does, she is quite thoroughly alive. Cool, dry, sardonic — and innocently cruel. To crush a flea with a pale little finger, and not so much as dig it a grave.
She looks, for all the world, close to the master of the house. But look closer — and the two seem nearer to equals. From the outside, a bond always looks the more beautiful.
Now then: whether what's inside is still her, or already something else — that I could not tell, not even by looking. What I cannot tell, I write down as untold.
